Making A Dictator
Concept ◦ Design ◦ 3D Animation
We were commissioned by National Geographic to create a series of map motion graphics and a bespoke title animation for their 2018 series Making A Dictator.
The brief was to create a look which would feel stylised and dark, generate a dramatic atmosphere and compliment the powerful nature of the 3 part series, which focuses on different dictators within each episode.
The 3D maps are used effectively to overshadow the surrounding regions, and create a sense of foreboding, helping to underscore the narrative. They are also used to reflect the lay of the land at each point in history, which required extensive research into border positions and country names and making these maps excellent tools in this historical series for National Geographic.
